The magic carpets of Archeiphiles

This programme is addressed to 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. The educational programme entitled ‘The alphabet of archives. Playing with words and drawings’ aims to introduce young children to the concept of archives as a kind of museum of documents. Discussing the concepts of collecting and preserving objects for personal pleasure with children alludes to collective memory products, such as historical archives. An important element of the programme is the story entitled ‘The magic carpets of Archeiphiles’, which recounts the meeting between a boy and a small elf, the hidden guardian of the historical archive who initiates children into the secrets of his work. The educational programme was implemented by archaeologist Kallina Xanthopoulou.
